The Established Order Reworked!

In the November 2014 issue of Vogue, there was a story about the unlikely but refreshing appointment of Benjamin Millepied by the Paris Opera Ballet’s as its new director.  Millepied’s background reminded me of Tempesta’s Dream, written by Vincent B. LoCoco, and reviewed previously in this blog. Millepied, as an outsider, did not train in Paris but attended New York’s School of Ballet. His trajectory included being tapped as a soloist three short years after joining the corps de ballet of New York City in 1995 to being named a principal dancer in 2001. He and three others is the founder of the L.A. Dance Project. For those who have seen the movie Black Swan, he choreographed and appeared in the movie beside his then soon-to-be and now wife, Natalie Portman.
